Game Outline & Pillars

Colony Defender starts just as an alien invasion of a city starts, the player plays a military soldier in control of a combat mech. They are tasked to reach a civilian spaceship and protect it from the aliens so that it can escape. The mech is very mobile with its boost and jumping abilities as well as it featuring an array of different weapons for the player to use against the aliens. Throughout the game you move and fight through a city environment and end up inside a tower upon which the escape spaceship is lifting off from.

Platforming

The player will be able to make use of advanced movement to traverse the levels. This includes, air-control, double-jumps and dashing.

Shooting

The player will be able to wield powerful and diverse weapons. For every enemy encounter the player should have the necessary weapon to deal with it.

A blend of the two

The player has to combine both platforming and shooting to
succeed in the game.
